Another Alaskan Sunset

That would make a very nice poster. The other's too, of course, but this one has a cheerful feel to it. I'd lie, and call it a sunrise. Only a local would know the difference.

Just luck of the moment. The deer hesitated long enough for me to get my phone out and snap a couple shots.

It was the place I usually walk, a dike along the river. It's right up against residential blocks most of the way. I see deer almost every walk. Seeing one that is both close enough and stays still long enough to show in a phone camera photo, even with cropping like this one, is rarer.

I got some video last week, but if it weren't for their white tails you might not even notice them.

The dike is about two miles away. Not that this matters when it comes to deer. They are everywhere. This is farming country (wheat mostly) near mountains. Lots of open space, 20 to 30 miles between small cities; most no larger than 3000 people, and it's mostly hills, which means lots of ravines and undeveloped land for the dear to hide in.

I go to the dike because it is a pleasant walk; and because farmers aren't as casual about people walking around their property as some might think.

I know how farmers feel about people in tramping their crop on their fields.

Here is another Sci-Fi type edit of a photo I took of your bay. One of my favorite places to take pictures.

This is our bay with the 4.5 mile spit that extends about half way into the bay. The rugged mountains across the bay jut straight up about 3500 feet. We can see seven glaziers that never melt. Lovely scenery, yet as deadly as it is beautiful.
