I've been restoring scans of 35 mm slides taken on vacations. Here's one from a trip we made in June 1972:image-344123252.webp

Thermopolis, Wyoming, is a town built around a hot spring. The mineral-rich water flows through the spa pools and into the Bighorn River, leaving mineral deposits behind as the water evaporates. It's been dong this for a long, long time.

This post handcrafted from 100 percent post-consumer recycled electrons.

Now that's one big mineral deposit! Thanks for showing it to us.

Did a little digging and it turns out this is a composite image. Regardless - we still look good from space. AA Sent from my iPhone using iPF
It has to be a composite photo. There are two or three different time zones on that picture.

Yes, we've been talking about the Spanish artist, Salvador Dali - cute name for a deli BTW (and in Vancouver probably excellent!).

Since we are on the topic of whimsical & surrealistic art, I'd like to share another of our prints w/ you - this called Sally and the Cat by the now just 21 y/o George Pocheptsov (George Pocheptsov - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)- he started drawing before he was 2 years old and this work was likely done by him in his early teens (possibly even earlier - not sure?).

P.S. click on the image for a better view (and if interested google his name and click on images to see the extraordinary variety of his talents) -
his original paintings (many commissioned by famous people - see link) sell for hundreds of thousands of dollars USA - Dave

P.S.S. another article about O. Pocheptsov | Magazine | The Harvard Crimson .

BOY - I'm absolutely amazed that no one paid attention to my post about George - an absolutely amazing child prodigy - click on the image and look at the imagination & beauty of the print - now this is a numbered giclee print signed by the artist and also embellished personally - NOW, I was curious about his age when he created this painting and also whether he had a hand in doing the additions to each print - just received an email from him: 1) YES, he did add some additions to each print and did pencil sign them; and 2) He was just 6 years old when he created this work. Please read about him in my links - he'll be graduating from Harvard this year & has donated millions of dollars to charity - he turns 22 y/o at the end of this month. Dave :)

I took this picture a few years ago. My son was looking for a lake surrounded by mountains, mirroring them perfectly. He needed the picture for the cover of a scientific journal. His photo is way better than mine.

Hi Johanna - that is a beautiful photograph of a lake w/ the reflections - reminded me of a trip we made years ago to Alberta, Canada - attached are a few images that I scanned months ago - Dave :)

Yes, well, just because no one said anything doesn't mean we didn't see it or appreciate it. I remember it. I don't usually say much in this thread, unless I think I have something to worth adding. I must have been distracted though, because it was certainly worth a like.

Also, I'm sure it looks much better full sized and in person. These days were are inundated with downsized digital copies of art almost everywhere we go online. It is far to easy to become to tune it all out, even when the subject is the art. Sorry.

Another 4-year-old photo: a part of Traunsee with Traunstein in the background.

Late in coming back on this great photo of yours Johanna. It took me by surprise. Quite some years ago I was in Traunstein as well as in the village of Erding, both in Germany not that far from Munich, as you can see from this Google map:

So it was a surprise to see there was a Traunstein mountain near the village of Traunstein in Austria across the border, per the map below. I didn't know that "other Traunstein" existed. They are not that far apart so I'm wondering how much confusion there would be with mail etc.

Thanks for that photo...brought back memories.
