If it's not Apple's Notes app, what app is it? I'm a bit confused, and not sure exactly what you are talking about.

If it is the Notes app, then yes, you should be either syncing it with something or using another app (that will sync with something). As many notes as you have (and they seem to be important to you) it is a bad idea to have them on just one device.

I do recommend Evernote (often). The only downside is that with the free account only your most recent notes are stored locally on the iPad. You need an internet connection to get to all of them. A paid account keeps them all local on the iPad (as well as synced), and isn't much if you rely on your notes professionally; not when you consider all the extras features and flexibility you get with Evernote.
