How to enhance iPad volume

I connected a pair of external speakers to my iPad 12 (wired connection) with the intention of amplifying the volume. I've gone through the usual settings to make sure there is no setting that is constraining the maximum volume. The external speakers will lower the volume, but they will not amplify the volume beyond what the iPad will produce without the speakers. Any advice?

Just a few questions: 1) From the AI search quoted below the 12th generation iPad is not yet released - please clarify; 2) Assume your iPad has a USB-C port, so speakers, headphones, etc. would have to be connected to that port or an adapter if you want to use a mini-stereo connection; 3) What speakers are you using (assume they are powered in some fashion); and 4) Why not try some Bluetooth speakers (that's what I use - have an internal battery but maximum sound is only at a moderate level - never did a decibel check).
