Help needed!

I recently got an ipad for my birthday and started loading all my contacts e-mail addresses into it, then my husband was adding other stuff eg music and videos. Everything was working well when viewing them. It turned off and we tried turing it back on, but it's "DEAD" no matter what we do it will not switch back on. I'm I doing something wrong. Maybe virus already or it's a LEMON.....Yes! it's fully charged.

Not a virus - try a soft reset - hold down sleep button and home button.
