Here is my first post. How can I shut off the external speakers on my IPad? I want to try headphones. Thanks crobert

Hi Crobert - welcome to the forum!

Well, if you plug in headphones to the iPad the external speakers will default the sound to the phones, i.e. no need to really 'shut off' the speakers - unless you've given this a try and it is not working in that fashion? Please explain if that is an issue?

Also, if you have BT (Bluetooth) headphones the this option is activated on your iPad and paired w/ your BT headphones, the sound should be sent only to the phones; again if you are using this option and still a problem, please post back - this should not be a major problem - good luck!

Thank you for your response. I plugged in the headphones and they do not work. The sound continues from the external speakers. What do you think? Crobert

Make certain that the headset plug is all the way in or use a BT headset.

Hi there and welcome.

It sounds like the headphones may be faulty, all headphones will work if the jack plug is correct, do you have other headphones or speakers that you can plug in to test?
