During last month's Apple Watch event, it was also revealed that HBO Now will be launching exclusively on Apple TV and for iPhone and iPad users. If you recall, an exclusive Game of Thrones trailer has also been shown on the screen at the time.

Now the app has been made available on iTunes, exclusively available for Apple TV, iPhone and iPad owners. The service costs $15 per month, but there's alimited time 30-day introductory free trial that you can use to get instant access to HBO original series, movies, comedy specials, documentaries, special events and smart talk shows.

The HBO Now thus becomes available just ahead of the Game of Thrones premiere on the network on April 12, and you will actually be able to enjoy it for free, if you sign up in the month of April. After you will have signed up via Apple’s offerings, you will also be able to watch HBO content in browser via the HBO Now website on any computer.

HBO Now is different from HBO Go since it doesn’t require a user to subscribe via their cable or satellite TV provider, providing a big advantage for cable cutters. Let's have a look at some the programming included with HBO Now:

  • Game of Thrones, True Detective, Silicon Valley, Girls, Veep and The Leftovers
  • HBO Films’ Bessie, starring Queen Latifah; Ballers, the comedy starring Dwayne Johnson; The Brink, the comedy starring Jack Black and Tim Robbins; and Westworld, the drama starring Anthony Hopkins and Ed Harris
  • X-Men: Days of Future Past and Godzilla in April; Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and This is Where I Leave You in May; and Gone Girl and The Judge in June
  • Weekly installments of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, Real Time with Bill Maher and VICE
  • HBO Sports documentaries, series and World Championship Boxing events
  • Groundbreaking documentary programming such as Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief, The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst and Oscar-winner Citizenfour
  • The best original series and miniseries from yesterday: The Sopranos, Sex and the City, The Wire, Entourage, Band of Brothers, True Blood, The Pacific, Deadwood and more
