Here is the result of my efforts in the kitchen today. One recalcitrant blueberry keeps making a run for it, I have now speared it in place with a toothpick. Chumleyboo, level 77

"Recalcitrant blueberry"....hahahahaha! Cracked me up! You are amazing to make this yummy cake (or is it a gigantic cupcake? - whatever - I want it!). If I even remember to buy blueberries there are high fives all around in my kitchen! Let alone assemble them into a cake...that would involve flour and sugar and eggs and stuff. I don't think I've bought a bag of flour in three years. And the eggs in the fridge I tested a couple of days ago to see if there were any "floaters" to dispose of - that's how long they've been there!!! I envy you, and whoever is going to get to consume that yummy specimen!

Master O's 9th birthday today, so at least one home-made cake is compulsory. I'm lucky I can get away with a basic iced sponge nowadays. In previous years I had to attempt a Thomas the Tank Engine cake (not my finest moment), a solar system cake (somewhat more successful) and an assortment of creepy crawly cupcakes.

Now, excuse me while I turn my attention to the tennis, where Nadal (sigh) is playing Montfils (sigh). They both look like nice chaps, and have lovely outfits!

My younger sisters bought exactly the same glasses - colour, shape everything - last year ! One bought hers in London and the other in Sydney! When they saw each other at Mums this New Year they were amazed to be confronted with their "own" glasses lol

Speaking of blueberries, I bought some frozen the other day, crushed them and added them to my home-made lemonade. The fam really liked it. I wasn't so keen Ono the blueberry chunks floating around in my drink, but it did taste pretty damned good.
