Just bought an Ipad 2 16gb wifi on eBay for a good price. The previous owner even had over a year of Applecare left on it. My grandson is a special needs child and we bought him one with a "iAdapter2" by AMDI installed on it. He uses it to try to communicate with us. I bought on for our house just to learn how to use it. I just received it and it of coarse was wiped clean with a fresh install.

I was reading about tethered and untethered jailbreaks and then I happen to check the iOS on mine and it's v5.0.1 and I smiled.

I need some advise as to what I need to do first.

I look forward to learning much from this forum. I cut my teeth many many years ago on "ProDOS" if anyone here remembered that. It ran off a 5 1/4" floppy and the hardware machine had a wopping 16K of ram. Imagine that.

Welcome to the forum ut.vols! I lived in Nashvegas many years and I still visit often. I am amazed with how much Nashville has grown. I lived in east Nashville and that neighborhood is so upscale now I wish I didn't sell my house cause I certainly couldn't afford it today. Anyway, the first thing I would do is go to settings, go to general. click on about, click on Name, and Name your iPad. Go back out to general, and click on software. If you have wifi at home, then you can update your iOS 5.0.1 into 5.1. This update is a very good update and resolved a lot of memory problems.

Then I would go to iBooks and download a copy of your iPad 2 manual which includes iOS5.1 information.

I'm glad you made it to this forum as it is by far the best resource you can go to for problems, ideas, tips, and tricks. Ya'll are so welcome here!
