Most likely the new version has been released to match the gold colour of the iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3, both of which come in snazzy gold versions.
The Gold version of the stylus, while looking a little more opulent than the regular Walnut version, will have the same retail price of $59.95.
FiftyThree’s Pencil stylus was launched over a year ago, with its novel carpenter’s pencil design. It can pair with your iPad via Bluetooth to activate smart features in various apps, such as FiftyThree’s own Paper iPad app, a free app that is great for note-taking and sketching.
Other apps that Pencil’s enhanced features are compatible with include Procreate, Noteshelf, Sketchbook and Mobile Mouse. More apps will be supported in future, according to FiftyThree.
