why would the 16gb ipad 2 be +$245 in sweden? doesn't make sense - the uk ipad has the same price as the us one ($499 ~ £329)

Where did you find these prices? Apple store or private stores which set their own prices? (makes a lot of difference)

The original iPad started @ £429 then rose to £439 earlier this year after the VAT increase. The iPad 2 starting @ £399 is at a lower price point.

Okay, I said the iPad will be starting @ £399 in reference to the iPad 2 which is what this thread is about.
The link you sent refers to the iPad 1 which was reduced to £329 from £439 in the UK after Apple announced the iPad 2 two weeks ago.

All in all, an iPad 2 is significantly pricier in EU than US (damn those taxes)

Yeah, it seems like cheaper than the IPad 1, well it really is, but dont forget how a bunch of people thought about the IPad 1 to be "way to expensive for a device u cannot replace a notebook with".

Plus the fact that apple well knew that it would be sold out faster than everyone can order, so they got the quantity in sales to allow a smaller price than their rival companys

GMT online sale starts 2:00 am (at least for germany), will still watch it from 23:00 pm on thursday since control is better than trust.

In addition, since the quantity is WAY smaller than the people willing to buy im gonna stand in the line real early on friday.

Im really considering doing the same here in London. Ordering online at 1am, and then go queue on Friday lunchtime. If I get luck buying one in a store, I'll just cancel the online order.

I really dont believe there'll be huge supplies on release, and as we've seen from the US, shops sell out fast, and online orders change to >1 month wait.
