After reading lot of host stuff,I am confused, pls see through what I got now,is it Ok for normal apple restore:confused:

# Copyright (c) 1993-2009 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
# 127.0.0.1 localhost
# ::1 localhost
74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
127.0.0.1 gs.apple.com
#127.0.0.1 gs.apple.com
#gs.apple.com
#74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com

if the only one you want to cover is gs.apple.com then it's almost ok since you have two entries for the same domain, you should have only 1, the one with the IP you want to resolve to.

Ye make sense, since the error 3xxx means:
"iTunes can't connect to gs.apple.com. Maybe Port 80 and Port 443 is blocked. Open it on your router"

And your Hosts file get a little confused here as mentioned by RMFGames

I've tried both ip addresses listed above and neither work. Still getting the 3014 error when it goes to verify iPad restore with Apple.

Update: I rebooted my computer and then it worked!
