The 5-Port Smart USB Charger is a well specified USB charger that includes a built in QI wireless charging pad.

In the box you will find the charger, a power lead and user guide. The charger measures in at 70mm x 100mm and sits 37mm tall. It is made from two tone plastic, feels very sturdy and looks well finished, weighing in at 200g.

On the front there are a total of five USB ports and above these is a blue LED to indicate power. The ports are not labelled as they can all output up to 2.4A. All ports are classed as Smart which means they adapt to the connected device and provide the fastest charging speed they can offer. On the rear is the connection for a standard two core figure of 8 (C7) power lead which is supplied. The charger sits atop a thin rubber strip to prevent slipping.

The total output of this charger is 10A meaning you can use all five USB ports for charging at the same time with minimal impact on charge time for the attached devices. You could charge four iPad Airs concurrently at full speed or three along with a couple of iPhones.

The added bonus is the integrated charging pad on top that can wirelessly charge QI-enabled devices which include such devices as the Samsung Galaxy 6 range, Nexus 4, 5, 6 & 7, Nokia Lumia models and various other compatible devices.

In use, this is a small, unassuming box that looks tidy on a desk and gives ample USB power for the power users out there - no pun intended. In this day and age, it seems almost a necessity and I have no hesitation in recommending the 5-Port USB Charger from EC Technology. Being QI enabled is the icing on the cake for users with compatible equipment and just adds to the value.

Thanks for the review partly quoted above - wife & I both have power packs (different brands) - mine has 5 ports and hers has 2 ports - total output is only 3.1 A for both, which easily allows charging her iPad and iPhone. NOW, 5 ports w/ up to 2.4 A w/ total output of 10 A (nearly 3x the ones we own) would be ideal for a family w/ multiple iPads - and I like the idea of Smart technology - what is the mAh rating for this unit (may have missed it and did not watch the YouTube)?

I checked Amazon USB, and the charger described is available there for $39, but not sure what type of AC connector is included, i.e. USA vs. European? Also saw the company's 'High Capacity' charger below which is twice the one I currently use - has just two outputs (2.1 & 1.0 amps) which would be fine w/ me. Dave :)

Thanks Dave.
Re: mAh, this is a mains charger so there is no mAh rating as such.
Any of the ports can deliver up to 2.4A and the total output for the charger is 10A split between the ports. Is this what you wanted to clarify?

Thanks Dave.

OH - silly me! I should have realized that to obtain that total output (in such a small footprint) that it's running off AC power and not a battery; but still a great choice for a family of iPad users!

When we are traveling, I don't like to leave our expensive electronics out in plain view when the room is being cleaned, so I typically use the room safe (if available) or my tote bag which I can put on a small lock - so I can easily charge our iPads inside the bag when we are touring for the day. Dave :)

Yup, battery chargers are a great option. I'll keep one handy when travelling but would still likely be charging the iPad overnight so it's full for the next day.
