need some help on how to download movies straight to ipad mini

You can do this using the iTunes App on your home screen.

Buy from iTunes or Amazon (watch with its Instant Video app -- you can just stream or download).

If you want to put your own dvd`s on the ipad to watch on holiday etc, you will have to put software onto your pc which decodes the dvd and puts it onto the ipad via itunes. I use software called handbreak.
