Copy from iPad to PC

I am looking for a first-hand account from anyone who is using a PC Program to interrogate their iPad and download files from within apps. Especially from iBooks. None that I have tried seem to "see" the ebooks that I have in iBooks. I am wondering whether a "Cloud" may be complicating the situation, or alternatively may present a solution.

As far as I know, it is not possible to transfer ebooks to PC. This is presumably to prevent piracy. You can download purchased items to individual iOS devices. You can also download books purchased in iBooks to Macs running Mavericks.
