Can't delete an email

A friend sent an email to my iPad titled "Element of Surprise". I can't open it and when I click on it my iPad instantly reverts to the home screen. So, I can't delete it from my mailbox. Can anyone hello?

Try accessing your email through safari if you can, or try a PC. You could always do a soft reset on the iPad, it may be a memory problem.
