Good to hear from you. You’ll find a whole bunch of iPad enthusiasts in this Forum who are only too willing to help other iPad owners and to hear of their experiences. Don’t be afraid to post any questions you may have or use the ‘Search’ button near the top of the Forum web page. I usually find I discover one new interesting and useful piece of information about my iPad every day - and often not even what I was looking for!!

A 'cache' is an a store of frequently used information that the iPad keeps in its local memory to avoid having to keep downloading it from the Internet every time it needs it. So, for example, Safari tries to 'cache' web pages that you have visited so that, if you return to that web page, it has a local copy of it available and doesn't need to download it again. You might want to clear the cache if, for example, you'd been carrying out some on-line banking activities and then wanted to loan your iPad to a child or fellow worker. The iPad might have 'cached' details of your bank account - security numbers and passwords, for example - that you clearly wouldn't want another person to have access to. By clearing the cache you erase all of that information, making it safe to hand the iPad to another person.

Hope to hear from you soon with your thoughts about the iPad.

Have fun and enjoy your iPad

If you don’t already have it you can download a copy of the iPad manual for free.

I've found that after extended surfing the cache can become "full", resulting in slower loading of pages. It can also cause quirky behavior, and even crash the browser. Clearing cache in Settings periodically, alleviates this. Fully powering down your iPad should also clear out the cache. Simply clearing "history" may not.
