Bluetooth and ipad

Trying to connect my iPad to the Bluetooth system in my Lexus 2009. Can anyone help?

I know of issues mentioned with many satnav dongles and Apples protocol, so there might be some incompatibility reason there.

my iPhone4 connects to my DVD Player after market radio ok, never tried my ipad2 though - never occured lol!

if you mean when pairing, usually the BT device has a code, most commonly '1234' or '0000', if you mean to a WiFi network that code will be known by the network owner, often it is on the router where you find the serial number .
