I take it you should fill your VIP container before you fill the last ordinary container as the bloody thing sailed as soon as I loaded the last ordinary one and before I filled the VIP one. Thought I read sometime back that the ship sailed as soon as you filled the VIP one. As I just got the port would be grateful for clarification

I thought i had remembered seeing that too, but no fill your VIP container as soon as you can. I did the same thing on my first ship.

Sometimes you learn the hard way.

I got a gold anchor today, ship left 2 hours earlier. I did not send her off yesterday on purpose, to test the theory of the last minute shipment. My previous last min yielded bronze, even with VIP container filled with 3 preserves. But that "last minute" was one hour before departure. Could it be that 1hr vs 2hr makes all the difference in the world? I think it is most likely random but, on the other hand, perhaps there is a glitch to exploit... Hmm...

Folks, may I ask again, how many chemists and lab assistants are needed for the Lipstick upgrade?

My guess is 3 of each, but could be as high as 4 of each.

Summer...I am almost ready to upgrade to lipstick also and have asked this questions a couple of times but no reply. I guess have several of each on hand. I am trying to get enough coins to do several upgrades and then use the big hammer. I hate to use it on just 1 or 2 buildings. I also checked out the port quest and feel I can do it this weekend too. I am still collecting rulers for the hydro plant which I guess will take a while to do so I will just go ahead with the port.

God luck with the port, Scooter. I did it in 2 days. The port is the easiest one as long as you don't get the steel bolt too early. I think there is no glitch, the whole setup is a cruel joke by the GI design team.
I have 2 chemists and 2 lab asses and another chemist and 2 asses are being trained as we speak. I hoped that would be enough. Still, we have a few players making lipstick, I wonder why they refuse to share their knowledge with us. Maybe they don't want to lose their monopoly on lipstick.

I am almost certain that it was no more than 3. I will be sure shortly as I will be upgrading my second cosm. Soon. Will post here shortly

Here's what I wrote down about the Heavy Factory upgrades I've done. Don't know any more levels beyond what's indicated so far.

Radio Factory
Lvl 1 - 1 Lab Asst
Lvl 2 - 1 Lab Asst; 2 Assembler
Lvl 3 - 2 Lab Asst; 2 Assembler
Lvl 4 - 2 Lab Asst; 3 Assembler; 2 Radio Electrician

Cosmetic Factory
Lvl 1 - 1 Lab Asst
Lvl 2 - 1 Lab Asst; 2 Chemist
Lvl 3 - 2 Lab Asst; 2 Chemist

My guess for lvl 4 of Cosmetic would be 2 Lab Asst; 3 Chemist; 2 Perfumers. But that's just a guess sticking to the pattern above.

Yes ship sails once the blue regular containers are filled. VIP has nothing to do with sailing time
