Wow, I'm not finding it all that bad. This is a little more challenging. You need to learn and adapt. Don't do the exchanges unless you need it. Collect the letters and see which ones give arrows.

Been there, done that. Wait until you get to the next level and have to collect hearts. You have to do more swaps and one of the people you can get a "new" letter from is MIKE. Unfortunately, nobody loves Mike. They won't trade with him or give him a heart. I now have 7 letters from Mike.

I've figured out that to get out of this "no trade" situation, I launch airport city because it shuts down big business and forces a refresh of the letters m

BTW, my population is down to 28k. I bought more taxis and started sending those out instead of buses when I could spend time with the game and now it's going much faster.

Oh, and for the person who send GI a message about Mike, don't hold your breath. I've been waiting 5 weeks and 7 weeks for replies on two support issues I reported! :thumbsdown:

If you have enough time and patience, you can speed up the process of getting the valentine's hearts a little bit.
It is about the hearts that give you letters, but do not require any letters as input in advance.
So what you want, is getting a letter from kate, as you can directly trade it into a heart. Or a letter from john, which you can trade for a letter to kate.
A letter from emma and alex requires even more trades (and energy).
So what I found out is, if you restart the app, the initial letter might change. If you restart until you get a letter from kate, it saves you the energy needed to trade other letters.

However, this is time-consuming, so I don't know if I continue with that.

Has anyone else finished the valentines post office and started the shop? I'm getting the first name as Mike but there are no Mikes to trade with...is this a glitch? Anyone else have this problem?

My favourite moment was when I had five "people" running around the streets and you could only trade items with no starting item to go with... had to restart my game.

I was stuck for hours with only letters from Mike (a new starter letter didn't spawn) and couldn't get my game to restart, so I figured out how to shut down the game. If you don't know (I am new to the ipad), press the home button to get out of the game, then press it again twice to bring up launched applications at the bottom of the window, then hold the icon with two fingers which causes it to vibrate. Click the little minus sign on the big business icon, then hit the home button twice to return to your normal menu. Next time you launch big business it will restart and respawn letters. I feel sort of cheap about restarting until I get letters from Kate, but they design these challenges in such a jerky way, they deserve it.

Anyone having trouble getting iron beams for Eiffel Tower challenge? I have been through all my friends allowed at one time by GI and I still have no beams. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks mcbane for the iPad trick. I wasted hours of time yesterday with the Mike letters. Now I'm not sure i will finish all three buildings in time.

I got this once when the app started with a hint saying my ipad RAM is low. Rebooting the ipad helped in this case

So what I found out is, if you restart the app, the initial letter might change. If you restart until you get a letter from kate, it saves you the energy needed to trade other letters.

However, this is time-consuming, so I don't know if I continue with that.

This tactic has worked well for me today. I look for who the new letter is coming from. If its not from Kate or John, I restart until it is. I have gone from 5 to 55 hearts in just one morning.

For the record, I found the best way to restart is to launch Airport City (another GI game) and probably paradise island would work too). Then go back to big business.

As for the beams, no I am not having a problem. I have gotten 2-3 beams each day. I visit all that I can until my daily visits are exhausted.

Yes, they do. Although I noticed that there are times when a lot of those help requests occur and times when there are little or no help requests.

If you go to the toolbar in the game want to make sure that there is not anything in the red. Then it will all move. Or at least it did for me.

I verified that. Hit the gear labeled "option" then see a man standing still second from bottom. Hit him and he will run, as well as the rest of the game.

To all those on the 2nd Valentine's Day quest and got "lonely" Mike letters (including me), I have good news for you. He becomes "popular" Mike in the 3rd quest, i.e. he nets you the cupids. So if you got a bunch of his letters saved up, you can trade them in right away. However, there's a glitch (of course) in that after you trade it in (from the 2nd quest) you have to restart the app because you didn't complete the chain the way it was intended. Still worth it tho because you save so much energy. So if you're still on the 2nd quest, collect those Mike letters and restart the app cus they'll come in handy in the 3rd quest.
