Best Format for IPad Videos?

Yeah, it's me again...Trying to learn the IPad Air 2...What is the best format to use for IPad compatible videos? I know it is easy to convert a video into most any format, and the IPad plays several, but which would you recommend? Thanks for the help and patience!

I use MP4 format, works great.
