Auto image stabilization

I have an iPad Pro 9.7 inch. Does the auto image stabilization only apply to video recording, or also to still pictures? I have rather shaky hands at 81 years of age!

It's only for reducing the appearance of camera shake while shooting video. The technology only works with video recording.
