Are we stuck with the gray strip at the bottom of the home screen?

It's designed to hold those apps you want there permanently, no matter what home screen you're on. Unfortunately there's no way to delete it if you don't want it there.

I use the apps on there all the time and it's good to know where they are. But l guess it would not be so hard for Apple to give an option to remove it, if one wished.

Funny really it's just there and now l keep looking at it.
