Apps update stuck on "waiting' after updating to latest software on iPad

Now what? Changed WiFi settings to 8.8.8.8 as stated in previous help threads found in other sites. Only WiFi connected

I know nothing of this 8888 thing you speak of.
We have had quite a few members with problems with apps stuck in waiting and it has turned out to be podcasts pending so go to your iTunes and see if you have any downloads pending, swipe these to delete and then apps should be good to go. Let us know if this is the issue.

8888 read in search that it would solve waiting problem (under WiFi settings IP address DNS) anyway changed to original setting - deleted app and re-clicked download and same thing -icon appears and app page reads downloading but icon on screen freezes on waiting ???

Did you look to see if any downloads were pending in itunes? Try a reset here, this will not change anything on your iPad and is akin to rebooting a computer. Hold the power off button and the home button simultaneously, keep holding them in and you will see the power off slide appear and disappear, wait until you see the Apple logo appear before releasing the buttons. It will take a little longer for your iPad to start. Let us know how you go.

I go onto my iTunes on laptop and see if updates are there and then sync the iPad to iTunes.

When you say 8 downloads pending, is this in iTunes? If it is you can delete those pending downloads by swiping and the delete option should appear, then your apps will update.
