Apple seems to have always something up its sleeve. This time it’s Robin Burrowes, the former head of Xbox Live marketing in Europe. He has just switched sides and has officially joined Apple, at the command of the App Store and iTunes marketing division. The information was posted of Burrowes’ private LinkedIn profile.

Burrowes has been working at Microsoft for seven years now and he has been in charge of all products, business and marketing management of Xbox LIVE in Europe, Middle East and Africa. That’s a lot of work. No wonder the man, decided to call it quits.

Apple has been hiring game-oriented personnel recently, thus sketching out the company’s desire to focus on gaming more. Last year, Robert Saunders, who previously held the position of public relation chief at Nintendo jointed the Cupertino team, as well as Nick Grange, former Activision and Electronic Arts employee. Why is Apple taking the gaming path? Well because according to Flurry Analytics, iOS-based devices are becoming extremely popular in the world of gaming.

Back in 2009, Android and iOS based games combined accounted for 18% of all gaming software revenue. In 2010 it jumped to 34% and to 58% last year."Portable console gaming no longer has a practical place in the current landscape of casual flick, drag, and swipe games. There is no room for the 3DSes and Vitas of the world when all-in-one functionality is now more important than high-tech, gaming-focused mobile systems." seems to be the dogma at the moment.
