MacRumors reports that Apple has responded to criticism of the high price of the new MacBook Pro range and need to buy various accessories by cutting the price of all of its USB-C adapters across the board from $6 up to $20.

The basic USB-C to USB Adapter now costs $9, down from $19. The USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter now costs just $29, down from $49. The newly launched Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adaptor is also included, with a price drop down to $29 from $49.

And that’s not all, as Apple is also cutting prices on all third-party USB-C peripherals that are available to purchase at Apple.com and in Apple retail stores by around 25%. Some accessories, including SanDisk’s USB-C card reader, are seeing an even bigger price cut, from $49 to $29.

Those customers who have already bought adapters before the price cuts will have the difference refunded by Apple, and the same goes for those with pending orders.

Here’s what Apple had to say about the price reductions in a statement to The Verge.
“We recognize that many users, especially pros, rely on legacy connectors to get work done today and they face a transition. We want to help them move to the latest technology and peripherals, as well as accelerate the growth of this new ecosystem. Through the end of the year, we are reducing prices on all USB-C and Thunderbolt 3 peripherals we sell, as well as the prices on Apple’s USB-C adapters and cables.”
