I'm looking for something to store and organize a whole bunch of data related to backcountry travel, weather data, snow data w/ pictures im taking in the field, map data w/ images, and checklists for safety equipment etc. Basically a backcountry logbook. Thanks for the help.

Evernote is free. Give it a try.

Though if you decide to use it extensively (especially with pictures) you might want to look over the paid accounts as well, just so you know what features/vs price you'll be looking at.

If you're willing to invest $30 for what you're looking for, you might want to take a look at Circus Ponies NoteBook 3.0 for the iPad. It combines list management, image management, and importing screen clips in a single app. You can find an extensive video tutorial on the circusponies.com website.

I really like the Mac version of this app.
