This is driving me nutz lately. I have tried messing with the DNS names, nothing seems to work well. It is obviously a problem with the application with the number of similar reports I see from people.

Is there a replacement application I could but that works better? I'd rather use a dedicated app than Safari using YouTube - Broadcast Yourself. (HTML5 link)

Vimeo might be a replacement to youtube, though you may want to use the website, as the vimeo app is for build for an iPhone.

You obviously have already tried various things getting youtube to work, so I can offer little help, in fixing the issue. Though it does work for me. From reading other comments, it seems, as if the device sometimes connects to an overloaded youtube server, which results in a slow playback. But apart from restarting the iPad and router do I not know how to force access to a different youtube server.

We currently have a NetGear router, but moving in 2 weeks. Will be getting a new router, preferably dual Band, and also 2x the internet speed. Hopefully the problem goes away.....

    YouTube on iPad is always "S L O W"..
It might be faster on iPad 2 , but remember that we are dealing with a not so robust processor.

It's not the processor, it's the application. Every other Video application that streams HD video is just fine. SD YouTube videos load SLOW.
