On this date in 1944,the Nazis arrested a family of 8 in Amsterdam. Only one of them survived the war. One of those who didn't survive was a teenage girl named Anne Frank. Her diary became a worldwide best seller and the house where she and Her family hid is now a museum.

On this day in 1964,the bodies of 3 civil rights workers were found buried in an earthen dam near Philadelphia,Mississippi. Their disappearance on June 21st sparked national headlines and a massive FBI investigation which became known as Mississippi Burning. The story was later made into a movie of the same name.
