Today Australians commemorate Anzac Day. The day our Anzacs (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) landed on the Gallipoli Peninsula on 25 April 1915.
Although it's a fictional account of the landing, the Peter Weir Film 'Gallipoli' starring Mark Lee, is just breathtaking. Have seen it many times and I still cry. AA Sent from my iPad using iPF
That must have been something to meet Mark Lee. Bill Hunter's portrayal of Major Barton was also moving. The character was such a tortured soul; especially the scene before they storm the trenches and he's listening to an opera on a wind-up gramophone. May have to watch it again this weekend.
