Not syncing

Can someone help me. Yesterday I plugged in my ipad air (and later my iPhone 5) both start to sync and get to the stage when it says 'preparing to sync' and they both go no further.

Does anyone have any idea why and what I can do to fix this problem.

I have only had the ipad air for about two months.

The iPad Air is running iOS 7.0.4

The iPhone is running iOS 7.0.4

Hi, welcome to iPF!

Afaik there was an update for iTunes yesterday, so make sure iTunes is up to date and try again. Second option: delete iTunes and install it again.
You could also use a different cable for syncing, or a different USB port.
