Hello - My name is Laura and I am a Technology Integration Specialist for a private school in Iowa. I received the following message from a high school teacher and wondered if anyone had heard of an app that could be of help to her: "I was wondering if you know of any iPad apps that allowstudents to measure the size of a particular color area on a digital image? That type of thing is used by biologists to measure things like leaf size. Youtake a photo of a leaf, for example, on a black background with a sizereference in the frame and then measure the size of the green colored area andcompare it to the size reference to measure the leaf’s area more exactly. Itallows for more exact measurements of the surface area of irregular shapes. There is a free program called ImageJ that runs off a Java platform that I’veused, but I’d like students in my biology class to do this on their iPad ifthey can, since they will all have those. I didn’t see an ImageJ iPad app."

I did a little searching and found this app.

There are no reviews, but the basic app is free, so it's probably worth trying.

If there is one app there are probably more, but I dug pretty deep before I found this one; mostly because the results for 'measure area' were packed with tools for measuring area on a map.

Good luck.
