Ipod charging using ipad

Prey still fairly new. Going on vacation Friday and want to take my iPad for my translations but also want to take my ipod for music mine is a little square one and thee doesn't seem to be a way to charge it using my iPad. is there? Also can I use my iPad to listen to music from my iPod??
