Ipad display issues and locking up

On latest updates of iOS and still iPad has been starting to do this strange glitch every couple of days (see attached image).

It seems like it may be a low battery issue even though the battery was reporting at around 70% when this happened. It sometimes takes a 45min. charge before I can get it restarted. The only way to get out of this is with a hard reset (both buttons pressed down for 10 sec).

I reset the whole iPad and reduced it down to only a couple of apps and it still did this 5 days after a complete reformat.

iPad is currently happy, but I am not sure for how long... anyone else hae this issue???

Is this an iPad1 or iPad2? Does it only occur in this particular app or in any app?

Any app or even at home screen it will crap out.
