I made a spontaneous purchase of a cool looking device called Mighty Dwarf. It's a 5W speakerless portable amp. The seller reassured me that it would be compatible but I've searched high and low and can't find the technical specs for the iPad 1 headphone jack. The amp impedance is remarkably low at 2 ohms. I believe Apple's earphones are 32 ohms. Would it be safe to plug this device into the iPad? I'm worried that it might burn the audio circuit of the iPad.

Looks like it is about 5Ω on the first generation iPad. I doubt it has changed.

Impedance mismatches in audio circuits are unlikely to cause damage these days. There are limiters to prevent it. The mismatch can cause distortion though.
