I have exactly the same problem. I cannot open iTunes itself. I am in South Africa. Is this an issue?
The post is not clear. Are you saying that you are trying to get into iTunes U, or the iTunes store? The iTunes icon will take you to the iTunes account you have set up with Apple. There is a separate iTunes U icon to access the iTunes education program. The Music icon is for locating any music downloaded from iTunes or another computer. If you are on an iPad furnished by an education institute, they may have disabled access to any apple store functions.
Hi to you both and welcome to the Forum! Some countries because of copyright issues and because of Government restrictions will only allow certain apps to be installed on iPads. This may be why you only have this available. To overcome this you can open an iTunes account for another country. You will need to create another email account, gmail is a good one as it doesn't signify a region. You will need an iTunes card of the country you wish to join and these are available on the net and as you only need the number on it this can be emailed to you. Others have had some success doing this without an itunes card but I havent found it to be so. You could try first and see if you get the none option for a credit card. The way to do this is to go into the store of your choice and select a FREE app to download and then proceed to create your new account. You will also need an address in this country, I know others have just put an address of an Apple store there.
