I am a brand new iPad owner, and I'm happy to join the community. I do have a pressing question: how do you
Keep 2 apps open at the same time? I am an author, nonfiction. I need to be able to read a PDF or kindle book and
Take notes at the same time. I use scrivener and tinderbox to organize my research, then ms Word for final manuscripts. I need to copy quotes from kindle or PDFs and somehow get them from the iPad to my Air which has the master apps. Dropbox obviously helps, as does Evernote and simple note. But I hate opening and closing apps all the time
Just to save notes and quotes and citations. It would be so nice to do it like on the Air, just a background and foreground or split screen.
What do others do?
I am obviously new to typing on a screen. Please forgive weird formatting errors.
Thanks very much in advance.

The iPad will allow you to jump back and forth between apps. To do this open app1 then press the home key. Open app2 press the home key.

Now double tap the home key and a shelf appears with recently opened apps. Press one and you are returned to that app in the same spot you left it.

Double tap the home key at any time to switch between apps.

Hi and welcome to the Forum!

You can also do the four finger swipe up to access the multi task bar or do the four finger swipe sideways to access apps that you have opened already.

There are apps available which will halve the screen so that you can have 2 browsers going at the one time. Just thought I'd let you know about this.

The IPad Forum is a community of members from all walks of life and from all over the world coming together to share our experiences and to help each other learn about this wonderful piece of technology the Ipad. If then you cannot find the answer you are seeking then by all means post your question. There are many friendly and informed members here only too willing to help you.
