Most of us love to travel abroad and actively research different information about the country of destination. Nevertheless, details about the local police or the emergency medical services are often overlooked. Not to worry, Apple has your back! According to new information dug up by FreePatentsOnline, the tech giant published a new patent with the US Patent and Trademark Office this week, called “Location-Based Emergency Informationâ€. The app is supposed to research information for the traveler about the foreign country’s emergency service, to save and store them in case of need.
"When a person travels abroad, emergencies can occur. For example, the person can become injured in an accident, be a victim of a crime or lose their travel documents. In those situations, having knowledge of contact information for local emergency services or the pertinent consular services can be beneficial."
The app will also possess intelligent qualities, which will allow it to become “aware†of the location in which the victim is located, enabling it to send signals with the exact placement of the injured party to the local police, fire or medical assistance units. In case of need, the app will pull out a list of emergency services icons for the user to select. Such an app would be truly useful, and will make travelers feel more secure, no matter in which country they decide to travel to.
