We expect iPhones and iPads to undergo torture tests on release, but now it looks like accessories such as the newly released Apple AirPods are also being subjected to all manner of duress in order to test their resilience, according to AppleInsider.
In his latest video, YouTuber Everything ApplePro shows how he put the new AirPods and their charging case through a variety of ordeals, starting off with drop tests both with and without case from up to 10 foot. Neither the AirPods or their case were damaged at all, other than picking up a couple of scuff marks.
Next up, the AirPods and their case were put through a 32-minute wash cycle, complete with detergent and clothing, and then put through the dryer cycle as well, along with a pair of standard Apple Lightning earbuds. Once again, the AirPods were undamaged, and the Lightning earbuds also only had minor damage to the sound quality in one ear.
Finally, the AirPods were dunked in a foot of water. The continued to play and came through undamaged once again. Apple doesn’t even publicise the fact that the AirPods appear to be waterproof, but maybe it should?!
