hi!

i asked this question before but since then multitasking got officially available for the ipad so things might have changed.
i am looking for an app that can run in the background and allows scribbling on the screen of the ipad regardless what it shows and/or which app is open.
the reason for this is i need the possibillity to scribble on photos and xrays. as there still is no automated picture import and some other reasons also speak for mirroring the screen of the computer i would use the ipad to display the images. i could use a programm like omnidazzle on the computer as well but i think things get a bit messy then

thanks for the help

cheers

The iPad iOS 4.2.1 is not really a multi-tasking OS in the Windows sense of the word. It's more like a 'task switcher' in that it allows swapping in and out of apps and remembers the 'context' of the swapped out app, so it re-enters at the exact same point that you left it.

So this type of requirement - running something 'in the background' is not really possible, except for a few limited exceptions that are allowed by the iPad's OS - such as file upload and download, playing music etc.

One possible solution would be to convert your pictures to PDF, because there are many apps out there that can be used to freely annotate a PDF and store the resulting PDF for display on the iPad, PC or Mac and for printing. Look at iAnnotate or GoodReader for example.

Sorry I can't be of much more help - this is really an iOS issue and can't be truly resolved by a third-party app in the way that you really are looking for.

hi tim

thanks for your answer.
even if it is not what i was hoping to read it helps a lot as i now can stop searchin for an app which simply cant exist.
converting would of course be possible but in the workflow of a dental surgery time is crucial and taking attention from the patient to the computer is something that should be avoided if possible.
i will probably go for something like airdisplay that everything is done on the computer but displayed on the ipad.

thanks for your help!
