Image & Form has announced that it has just updated its adorable insect game, Anthill: Tactical Trail Defense, as well as releasing a new free lite version of the game. To celebrate the game’s new shortened name (it’s just Anthill now), the new update features new enemies, new food resources, and new enemy anthills.
The game is already highly acclaimed, and was named iPad Game Of The Week in the App Store on release. It’s basically an unusual take on the whole Tower Defense genre (“Trail Defenseâ€, the developers call it!), featuring ants and other insects, where movement is based on real-world insect behavior. In the game, players take control of an army of ants and defend their anthills from ever-advancing predator hordes. In typical TD fashion, it’s up to the player to use their time and resources wisely to protect their anthills, drawing pheromone ant patrol trails to guide their troops. And just like in the real insect world, you must also eat your prey in order to survive and thrive.
