AirPrint without a Network/Internet Service

I am a newbie here, and I'm relieved to have found this forum. I just got the iPad 2 (Wifi & 3G), and will buy a "compatible" printer. Currently, I do NOT have Internet service at home. How can I airprint without Internet service using a "compatible" printer?

You only need the printer and iPad to be on the same wireless network. You can use any wifi router to create the network and than only join the wifi network from your iPad, when you want to print.

The reason being, that the iPad always connect via wifi instead of 3G, if both are available, even when the wifi has no Internet connection.
