If I'm in a location where both 3G and WiFi are available, which one does the iPad default to for data and is it controllable?

If I'm just surfing at home there's no reason to burn up 3G Mbytes on a limited plan when I can just use the WiFi. On my iPhone I can turn on the Airplane Mode but it shuts off both phone and WiFi.

I am sure it will work just like the iPhone. If the iPad's wifi is on and there is a network within range that you have access to, the iPad will use wifi. If not, it will use 3G.

BTW, this will help your battery life too since wifi uses less power than 3G.

Thanks for the quick reply. I wasn't sure how my iPhone made the distinction.

No problem. This feature was one of the many reasons I left my Win Mo phone for the original iPhone.
