I thought I could download whatsapp but the App Store is saying it's not available for download in uk yet?

Whatsapp is an iPhone-only app. It will not install/run on a stock iPad. Sorry.

Like ornées Said, whatsapp is not currently supported on ipad, but if you are desperately looking to have whatsapp on your cellular enable iPad, there is a way to get it done. You can google about that. I've whatsapp installed and working well on my ipad Rmini like you can see on the screenshot.
