I went to best buy several weeks back and purchased a cable.

It has yellow red and white jacks on one end and a plain Jack on the other end.
I thought it Was used to hook up an iPad or itouch to a tv.
Any idea what it is used for.?

Assuming the red, white and yellow connectors are RCA-type, it is an AV cable. Yellow is video out, red is right channel audio out, white is left channel audio out.

Best Buy has an excellent web site. You can find what you purchased there and read what it's about. That "plain jack" you mention can be anything. Got a link with a picture?

ive got one on my pc also, you hook up the cable to your ir sensor after u set up your laptop. its to control your laptop from a distance, change channels on the tv , go to media player, etc. if you are running vista,go to media center and set up your tv from there,it will have a wizard to walk you through it
