Westell router problem

Has any one had a problem connecting their iPad to a Westell wireless router?

My iPad can knows the network is there, but when I try to connect, I get a message back saying unable to connect.

Encryption is off. MAC filtering is off.

Has anyone else used a westell router? It's part of my in-laws verizon dsl system.
