Using iPad2 from US to Bahrain, Manama

I am new to the Forum. My son is in the Navy and deploying to Bahrain in early May. I am thinking about buying two iPad2's so we can keep in touch. My question is will we be able to use Facetime with that distance?

Thank you Leo/05GT, very relieved to hear I wiill be able to communicate with my son.

05GT- My son, Cory, just left Gulfport about a month ago. Did some combat training then headed to San Diego for a month doing weapons training, amongst other things. Just got home Saturday. Thanks.
