Ubisoft, GREE, and PlayNext have this week unveiled a new free-to-play iOS game called Assassin’s Creed Memories, which blends card-battle, RPG and strategy elements, and introduces Assassin’s Creed fans to Abstergo Entertainment’s new mobile Animus.

In the game, players will make their way through history to build a powerful guild, recruit famous allies, and defeat rival players. It’s currently on soft launch in some countries, and will be available worldwide later this summer.

“The card battle genre has been hugely popular around the world and GREE and PlayNext have demonstrated their know-how and expertise on such games. With such expertise, we really believe they’re bringing a great new way to enjoy the richness of the Assassin’s Creed universe to mobile players,” says Jean Michel Detoc, Managing Director, Ubisoft Mobile Division.

During the course of the game, players will get the chance to explore several locations that are familiar to fans of the AC universe, such as Renaissance Italy, and Colonial America. And even more exciting for fans, some eras that are totally new to the franchise will also feature.

Fans can expect both a deep single-player experience, and multiplayer combat with battles of up to 20 v 20. Players will also get the chance to create and build their own unique experience in the game, choosing what sort of Assassin they want to be, and which fan-favourite allies they want fighting beside them.

“We’re thrilled to bring our expertise in mobile games to a renowned brand like Assassin’s Creed and to work with a company that has brought so much to the gaming world,” says Eiji Araki, Vice President, Social Games, GREE, Inc. “The card battle genre is all about being able to evolve and grow great heroes and this franchise has created some of the most epic characters in gaming today.”

“We are passionate about creating great experiences for mobile players and we have applied all of our learnings and success with past games to Assassin’s Creed Memories,” says JT Nguyen, Chief Operating Officer, PlayNext, Inc. “We want to capture all the excitement and beauty of Assassin’s Creed and apply it to a completely new experience for mobile players.”
