Is there any way to stop my iPad from nagging me to update to the next version of iOS?

Is there any way to stop my iPad from nagging me to update to the next version of iOS?

On a stock iPad there's no way to stop the notification of an available iOS update from appearing. There's also no way, on a stock iPad, to get rid of the red update button on the settings icon without updating.
