Sorry for delay!from what I can see, it's not a microsim for an iPad. I think you will have to look at:

MOVISTAR
VODAFONE
ORANGE

Only these providers supply microsims for the iPad to the best of my knowledge. Although I will check out Yoigo in store for you!

Ipad w/ WIFI

Hey people I need an opinion from someone who has used an Ipad in Spain before. I am moving there next week & was debating on spending $ on an Ipad2 w/ WIFI only OR hauling my old laptop there that's out-dated & heavy but functional. I was excited to get the Ipad because I thought it would be smaller & easier to use there, but I've only received negative feedback from people who were there before for some reason. I'll be in Vigo, Pontevedra Galicia & they made it seem like no one there uses them, I would stick out like a sore thumb & made me a target for robbery. Then, I was also thinking of the availability of the WIFI itself. Does Spain have areas with accessible WIFI easily like we do in America? I ended up buying an Ipad, but now I have buyers remorse.....help?!?!?

Hello Viva

You will be fine. Its true there are not loads of people with iPads in Spain but there are people with them. Ive been travelling all over Spain with mine quite safely.

Yes there are WIFI spots in the usual cafes, shops, McDonalds etc, but you could also get yourself a sim from a Yoigo branded shop. Theres one in each city and town normally. For about 9€ you can have a month of 3G access. Its a pay as you go deal.

They don't officially do a microsim for the iPad but all the shops have a sim cutter and know what to do.

Your Cellular data settings are simple:

APN: internet
Username: (leave blank)
Password: (leave blank)

Hope that helps

Hello Rich.

Richard here in Florida, US. My wife and daughter are going to be in Spain this summer for a month, teaching and traveling. We bought an iPad2 a few months back knowing that they would be going to Spain this summer. When purchased, we had to choose AT&T or Sprint, and decided to go with AT&T as her designated provider. However, due to the exorbitant prices here in Florida for a usage plan, we never activated her AT&T account, and she relies upon wireless at home, her school, restaurants, etc. Works pretty well without a data usage plan.

When she gets there, she will probably want to make sure that she has a data plan, rather than risking reliance upon WiFi. How extensive is WiFi coverage in Spain? Would you recommend that she purchase a month's data plan or rely upon WiFi?

If you recommend that she go with a data plan, I guess she will need to have a compatible SIM card. Is there already a SIM card inside of her iPad2, even though we never activated her data plan with AT&T? I ask because I am unclear as to what you mean by the shops in Spain having SIM cutters. Do they physically break/cut a SIM card inside of her iPad? Can the SIM card (if actually cut) be replaced afterwards?

Are there still pay as you go plans available? If so, roughly how much do they charge nowadays. My wife and daughter will be in many different regions, including extended time in and around Madrid and Barcelona. Want to find them good service levels at most reasonable subscription prices.

Look forward to your kind response, and am happy to have found this website and forum.

Richard in S.E. Florida (near Fort Lauderdale), U.S.
